roast beef slider

File this under: to make for super bowl.

Lets face it, the football game is important (especially if you have a horse in the race); but also just as important are the commercials, and the snacks.

You want easy snacks you can make ahead, that can either be pulled out last minute, or reheated without much fuss. That way, you can watch both game and commercials.

I love making pull apart sliders on hawaiian sweet rolls. After heating, they just require a quick slice through.

I’ve got two versions for you this year, and this roast beef is the first.

Ingredients:

1 package 12 hawaiian sweet rolls

1 Tbsp horseradis

2 Tbsp mayo

2 Tbsp evoo

2 large onions, lised

1 pinch of salt

3/4 lb roast beef

6 slices white american cheese

4 Tbsp butter, melted, divided use

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400.

In a bowl, whisk together horseradish and mayo. Set aside.

Add evoo to a medium sauce pan.

Add sliced onions and salt.

Cook low and slow until onions are caramelized.

Prepare hawaiian sweet rolls by slicing in half horizontally, keeping all rolls attached.

Spread horseradish aioli over top and bottom buns.

Layer roast beef on bottom, top with caramelized onions, and then the slices of american cheese.

Cover with top half of buns.

Place rolls in foil lined oven safe baking pan.

Use a brush to coat top of rolls with 1/2 of the melted butter.

Bake in oven on middle shelf for 10 - 12 minutes. Check often to prevent burning.

Once slightly browned (but not burned), remove from oven. Brush with remaining melted butter.

Slice through rolls to create individual servings.
