out and about: the fishery brunch

french 75

The whole family snuck out to the fishery for mothers day. It was the first time we’d all gone back together in forever, and the first time that we didn’t go to dinner for sushi.

It was my perfect day… which of course started out with a french 75, per usual, since the mother’s day cocktail they were serving was vodka based, which I’m allergic to.

market carpaccio: fennel, caper, aleppo chili, meyer lemon oil, shallot, chive

The hubs and I started off sharing the carpaccio of the day… which was halibut. Which, as I have also mentioned before is my new favorite sashimi fish.

All the flavors complimented the fresh sashimi grade fish, without overpowering it… which is exactly what you want with raw fish… The key to knowing you have good fish is being able to taste it; not flavors that over power the flavor so you don’t know if it’s fresh or not. And this? Was fresh.

salad special

You guys! They had a salad special for mother’s day… and this was the salad of my dreams. Creamy burrata topped with fresh strawberries, nasturtium leaves, nasturtium honey, and assorted greens.

This, was perfect. It was the best combination of flavors. I could eat this again, and again, and may have to figure out a way to harvest my own nasturtium honey.

Perfect salad.

Luckily Jamie got his favorite, the fishery soup, so I didn’t have to share one single bite.

crispy albacore belly sandwich: milk bun, lettuce, tomato, housemade pickle,

This has always been my favorite fishery lunch item. Through three chefs and multiple iterations. And this one? Beats them all.

It was so good. The fact I had to share it, was not.

Regardless, you know we’ll be back.
