sangria style honey deuce

Dare I say it? I’m not a huge tennis fan. Therefore the u.s. open is not usually on my bingo card during any given year.

However, I am a fan of the honey duece… that quirky little drink served all over the courts highlighting honeydew melon balls (like tennis balls), a raspberry liquor, and some lemonade. So we can celebrate that.

And if you know me, and something has fruit in it… welp, I’m turning it into a sangria. So much easier than mixing individual drinks… and a tad bit more refreshing, if I do say so myself.

The original version calls for lemonade… but I used a sparkling lemonade, and then top the whole thing off with a float of prosecco rose. Because why not? She fancy.

Ingredients:

1 cup gin

1/3 cup chamboard

melon balls from 1 small honeydew melon

1 pint raspberries

1 lemon, sliced

25oz sparkling lemonade

prosecco rose

Directions:

Add gin and chamboard to a large pitcher. Stir to combine.

Add in fruit, and stir to coat with liquid. Refrigerate for at least 5 hours before serving.

1 hour before serving add in lemonade and stir. Set back in fridge.

Add some fruit to glasses and fill 2/3 of the way with sangria mixture.

Top with a float of prosecco rose.
