out and about: the fishery “special game”
yellowtail tostada
the lone ranger
It’s no secret we frequent the fishery quite often. We may or may not even have our “own” table. While we have our standby favorite dishes, the menu is seasonally evolving, and always on point, so there are no shortages of new and different dishes to try as well.
While the catch of the day, sandwich, and carpaccio can vary from day to day, lately the “special” game has been on fire.
Take this yellowtail tostada. We’ve had it twice now. Seriously, the first time we tried it, loved it, but didn’t expect to have it again. So when they offered it, we pounced. The fish is so fresh, the spice of the sauce paired with the creaminess of the avocado perfection. The crispy garlic chips? Tang of the red onion and the freshness of the sprouts. Everything works together perfectly. It reminded us of our beloved tuna tostada chips from himitsu… yet some how totally different.
salmon tartare
society: the pupil
This salmon was another excellent special of the day. Perfectly fresh salmon, cripsy potato strings, fresh dill, herb oil, and the creaminess of the sauce all combined for the perfect bite. Piled on toasty bread from wayfarer and you can’t go wrong. I’d order it again and again.
Still waiting for it to come back…
littleneck clams: white wine, thyme, garlic, chili flake; add housemade fettucini
While not a special per se, as the clams have been on the menu as long as I can remember, what is new is that the fishery now makes all their pasta in house. And boy oh boy, is this a plus. The texture is amazing, and the cook, perfection.
I used to just get the clams as is. Now? I always add the pasta.
