out and about: disney’s wine country trattoria

These days we’ve traded in family trips to disneyland for one on one trips with individual (sometimes duo) kiddos. The kids like it because they are in charge of the day… the rides, the wake up time, how long we stay, and especially where we dine.

Wine country trattoria was always hit or miss. Our first visit was a blustery day, service took forever, and the steak was overcooked. But we discovered iron horse fairy tale cuvee - so overall a win. Since then sometimes it’s been good, sometimes’s not so great. But it’s always on the list for one of my kids. So we take it on the chin. And say what you will, they are fantastic about customizing anything per your request.

tomato salad: citrus-marinated tomatoes, house-made ricotta, pesto, basil and watercress with sourdough croutons

I love this salad. I’ve had it multiple times throughout the years, sometimes adding meat, sometimes just having it as a starter. Either way, it’s a fav. Which should be no surprise considering my love of tomatoes. And who doesn’t want some housemade ricotta.

So the downside is that disneyland no longer carries iron horse. Fun fact, I was there for the last bottle, and to see spiderman, mary jane, ned, and mysterio promoting their movie, whilst drinking said last bottle. The upside is that they now carry moet… which is another one of my favorite bottles. Cheers.

chicken parmesan: breaded and fried chicken breast, mornay sauce, pasta with marinara, grated pecorino and micro bsil

So a few asides. Not really a mornay sauce as much as melted mozarella. And that is regular basil, not micro. All that being said. The chicken parm at wine country is my favorite chicken parm. Period. Escept when the chicken isn’t fully cooked. Which happened once. But hasn’t stopped me from ordering it.

The flavors are spot on, and the marinara is clutch. Definitely worth trying it. .

spaghetti with parm

The kiddo’s fave? Plain spaghetti with a ridiculous amount of parm. Not pictured. The extra, extra parm that was ordered. Seriously, with this kid, there can never be too much parm.

Although these days? I’m pretty sure he’d opt in for a side of meatballs as well.
