out and about: parfait paris la jolla

One of my favorite things about living in la jolla proper, is how small town our little village is. Not just the fact that I am guarenteed to bump into at least one person i went to elementary, jr, or high school with, their parents, or my mom’s neighbors. Although that in itself is always alot. No, not just that, but honestly how quaint our little area of the ocean is. In fact, Avy even likens the main street to that of storybrook from once upon a time.

And part of the charm are the cute little bistros sprinkled about. Like parfait paris. Which really does feel like a little paris cafe, complete with sidewalk seating and macarons. It’s literally the perfect place to pop in and have a quick breakfast bite, latte, lunch snack, tasty pastry, or all of the above.

apple caramel latte: apple, caramel, espresso, steamed milk topped with whipped cream (iced)

apple chai latte: spiced chai, apple, espresso, steamed milk topped with whipped cream and biscoff crumbles (hot)

We went with the seasonal fall drinks this round. And can I tell you the apple chai latte? Chef’s kiss. Tasted like apple pie in a glass, but without being too sweet. The apple caramel latte on the other hand? A little sweet for me, and I feel like the ice didn’t do it any favors, but that’s also just me… who’s not an iced fan.

But seriously, if you want to feel like fall is hitting? These are the drinks for you.

chicago deep dish danish: flaky, buttery croissant dough filled with savory pepperoni, melted mozzarella, silky bechamel, and rich tomato sauce, seasoned with herbs de provence

Sleeper hit here. We thought it sounded good, but it was beyond our expectations. There may have been serious barganing for who got more. Super flavorful, tastes like pizza, but so much better. I’ll take all my pizza’s in a croissant now. Please and thank you.

prosciutto verde: creamy stracciatella, prosciutto, arugula, pesto, on our housemade ciabatta

Love this sando combo. What’s better than a prosciutto sandwich? The pesto was top notch, and i love that instead of burrata, it was just stracciatella (the creamy inside of burrata) so no “rind” if you will. All the flavors worked together. My only complaint? I think the bread to filling ratio was a little off. Need more filling or less bread, to really highlight the standout ingredients. But it really doesn’t feel more parisian than eating this type of sandwich on the sidewalk.

september special: london cake

Who doesn’t love a spongey chocolate cake? Kinda the perfect dessert. But you know what makes it even better? A layer of salted caramel worked into the chocolate ganache frosting. And since this is a special, you need to run and not walk, to make sure you taste this masterpiece of a dessert in all of its glory. It’s so good. The perfect hit of chocolate, without being so rich that you don’t want to finish it.

assorted macarons

And what is a visit to your favorite parisian bistro without a box of macarons to go? Nothing, that’s what.

Matcha and white chocolate, oreo, italian espresso, lemon, birthday cake, crispy hazelnut, passion fruit mango, california strawberry, just to name a few favorites. And peep how cute the to-go box is? Total celebration of our little village. Which brings us full circle back to how well parfait paris fits in around here.
