quick tip: freeze fruit in lieu of ice cubes

When I was a kid, my favorite snack was frozen grapes. My brother and I would spend so much time halving each grape, and placing those halves separately on paper plates to stick in the freezer for later treats. They were eaten much faster than the time it took to prepare them.

Flash forward to today, and while I may not take the time to halve and place grapes delicately; I have put that long-learned skill to use.

I constantly have a selection of freshly washed grapes (and other fruits) stored in my freezer. Not for snacks any more, but in lieu of ice cubes.

Hear me out. When was the last time you grabbed a bottle of white wine or champs on your way home, wanted to open it with dinner, but it wasn’t chilled? Nobody wants to put ice cubes in their wine… but will we do it when we are desperate? Of course we will. Even if it dilutes the taste, and makes you cringe…

… but, if you have frozen grapes in your freezer? You can use them instead. Your wine is chilled, and there is no extra water to be found. What you will find? Is a booze grape treat at the bottom of your glass. You’re welcome.

This fruit in lieu of ice cube trick, is also excellent for sangrias, and frozen margarita’s- where you don’t want to dilute the booze, but you do want the chill.

Thank me later. Preferably over a non-diluted frozen grape mimosa.
