mesquite bbq pepperoncini chicken wings with honey mustard

Y’all know we love a good chicken wing around here. Especially a good crispy chicken wing that’s packed full of flavor.

These wings are reminiscent of ones we tried during the disney food and wine festival, and were one of our favorite bites. So much so, that clearly, I had to try making an at-home version.

Ingredients:

2 lbs chicken wings, drumettes and flats

16 oz pepperoncini juice

2 Tbs honey

12 oz bag of crushed mesquite bbq chips

honey mustard dip

1/4 cup honey

1/2 Tbsp mayo

1/2 cup yellow mustard

Directions:

Place chicken wings in a large ziploc bag. Pour in pepperoncini brine and 2 Tbsp honey. Seal the bag and massage juice and honey into the wings.

Refrigerate 4 - 6 hours before baking.

Preheat oven to 450.

Place mesquite chips in a large ziplock bag. Seal and squeeze out air. Use a meat pounder to crush chips.

Remove wings from brine bag, and place in chip bag. Shake to coat wings.

Place wings on a tin foil lined oven safe baking sheet.

Bake for 20 minutes on the bottom rack.

Move wings to the top shelf and bake for 10 additional minutes.

While baking whisk together 1/2 cup honey, mayo, and mustard.

Serve chicken with dipping sauce.
