applesauce cake with brown butter cream cheese frosting
Kinda obsessed about cakes that are based on produce. Carrot being a prime example.
And this? This applesauce cake is such an easy week night staple. But we are gonna elevated it to where it’s no ordinary applesauce cake. ‘Cause we be making a brown butter cream cheese frosting to play off all the apple and spice flavors.

Ingredients:
2 cups cake flour
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
2 eggs
2 cups applesauce
1 tsp vanilla bean paste
3/4 cups avocado oil
1/2 cup butter, melted and browned
8 oz cream cheese
1 tsp vanilla bean paste
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 Tbsp heavy cream
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350.
Butter a 9 x 11 pan.
Whisk together flour, sugar, soda, powder, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg.
Create a well.
Add in eggs, apple sauce, vanilla, and oil.
Whisk together to combine.
Pour into oven safe pan.
Bake for 40 minutes — or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Heat butter on stove until melted. Keep cooking until turns brown.
Add browned butter to softened cream cheese. Add vanilla, cream, and powdered sugar.
Use an immersion blender to combine.
Once cake has cooked, remove from oven and cool.
Frost with brown butter frosting
