out and about: san diego legion at snapdragon stadium

beer: hazy ipa

We got a chance to take two of the kiddos to go see the san diego legion rugby team last weekend. Have y’all been there yet? It’s so much fun. And fun for the whole family.

I’ve always been a huge fan of watching sports live. Baseball, football, hockey, you name it. And I find rugby just as enchanting to watch.

A cross between football, soccer, and some random aerobatics thrown in for fun. We’re still learning, but I’ve got to tell you that it’s really nice to follow a winning san diego team for a change.

And just like any other event I attend, you know it’s mostly about the food for me. And snapdragon stadium has pulled from some of san diego’s best for their in stadium fare.

hodads: single cheese burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles (condiments on the side)

Hodad’s has been the gold standard for ocean beach hamburgers, since my mom was at point loma high. There aren’t many options for burgers at the stadium, just your classic burger - cheese or no cheese.

Luckily for my kiddos you can get the burgers without all the veggies, and the condiments are all in packets to be added per your needs.

The burgers were less hot than I’d like, due to being premade in batches, but the flavors were definitely classic. And it was nice to have an actual burger option versus fast food at a stadium.

hodads: side of fries

We also grabbed a couple of sides of fries from hodads. Easily the best part of our meal. Crispy on the outside, soft and thoroughly cooked on the inside. Perfect to dip in sides of ketchup.

Plenty to share.

taco stand: california carne asada burrito with fries, salsa, sour cream, and guacamole

Taco stand is another long time favorite. We have one right down the street from us and eat there regularly. It’s really nice to have a place that the whole family knows and loves available to order at the stadium.

I wish there was more guac, sour cream, and salsa on this version of the burrito, but it makes sense that it wouldn’t be as much as normal, considering they are not made to order. However, I wish they offered them on the side so you could have more.

Some of us are a sucker for sour cream on our burritos. But maybe that’s just me.

I love being able to have our favorites ready to order. And am looking forward to trying more of the stadium offerings at the next game we attend.
